Pre-requisite: 1 semester of Parenting

Course Length: 2 years for 8 CSI credits

Grade Level: 10-12

Major Concepts:

The Education Assistant Program provides high school students with an opportunity to interact with students and support a classroom teacher.

Content:

The content shall include, but not limited to the following:

• Tutor individual students
• Work one-on-one with students who have special needs, whether academic, physical, emotional or social
• Monitor the instructional progress of small and large groups of students
• Follow and support the classroom teacher’s instructional plan, behavioral plan and management plan

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:

• Integrate multiple roles and responsibilities as an Education Assistant
• Demonstrate standards that guide behavior in education
• Demonstrate respectful and caring relationships in the family, workplace and community
• Demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills in the workplace

Grading:

Students will be graded on the following criteria:

• Accountability sheets signed by student and teacher
• Assignments
• Teacher evaluation
