Major Concepts: 

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of Health.  Students will be exposed to a variety of methods in which presentations can be made to suit a variety of audiences.

 

Content:

The content shall include but not limited to the following:

 

·                    Health and its Components.

·                    Decision Making and Setting Goals.

·                    Bones, Skin and Muscles.

·                    Senses.

·                    Tobacco

·                    Alcohol

·                    Illegal Drugs

·                    Nutrition.

·                    Family Planning and Marriage.

·                    Basic First Aid

·                    Male/Female Education.

·                    Current Events

 

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:

 

·                    Understand how the growth of their body is a continuing process that will continue forever.

·                    Have a general understanding of things that are good and things that are bad for the human body.

 

Grading:

Students will be grade on the following criteria:

 

·                    Classroom assignments (includes worksheets, essays, handouts, bookwork and other)---40% of final grade 

·                    Chapter Tests and Diet Project - Consisting of writing a report that deals with foods that they have eaten over a four day period. Keeping track of foods eaten and some information on the amount of calories that they have burned by doing various activities. ---60% of final grade
