Major Concepts:       

Students will continue to explore the language of algebra in verbal, tabular, graphical and symbolic forms.  Problem solving activities and applications encourage students to model patterns and relationships with variables and functions.

 

Content:

The content shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Solve systems of equations using the algebraic techniques of substitution and elimination.
  • Foil, combine like terms, apply rules of exponents.
  • Factor trinomials and polynomials
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational expressions.
  • Simplify, add, subtract, multiply and divide square roots.
  • Solve single variable equations with inequalities in them, and be able to graph the solution set.

 

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course:

  • The student will be prepared with the skills for Algebra II.

 

Grading:

Students are graded on all homework, including book work and worksheets; they are also graded on quizzes and tests.
