Major Concepts: 

Students explore the language of algebra and geometry.  Problem solving activities and applications encourage students to model patterns and relationships with variables and functions and to construct, draw, measure, and classify geometric figures.

 

Content:

The content shall include but not limited to the following:

  • Solve equations.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide negative and positive integers.
  • Write and solve proportions.
  • Use order of operations to solve problems.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals.
  • Complete problems with English and metric units.
  • Compute all types of percent problems.

 

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course:

·        The student will have the math skills required for beginning algebra.

 

Grading:

Students are graded on all homework, including book work and worksheets; they are also graded on quizzes and tests.
