Major Concepts:

  • Fitness – Physical activity as well as knowledge and documentation (body composition, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance)
  • Sports – Rules, playing the game, sportsmanship and written understanding
  • Games – Gym and field games
  • Lifetime sports

 

Content:

The content shall include but is not limited to the following:


·        Soccer

·        Ultimate Frisbee

·        Fisbee Golf

·        Kickball

·        Volleyball

·        Softball

·        Flag Football

·        Ping Pong

·        Bowlling

·        Badminton

·        Pickleball

·        Track and Field

·        Golf

·        Softball


 

Special Note:

  • Students will participate in activities, complete written assignments and record fitness levels individually.
  • This P.E. class will address ALL of the P.E. standards for the Melba School District.  This includes all of the components of fitness including:  motor skills, strength, endurance, flexibility, rules, strategy, teamwork, competition and sport.

 

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:

·        Understand rules of games and sports

·        Participate with understanding games and sports

·        Complete and understand how to execute tournaments

·        Complete written assignments regarding sports, rules, and history

·        Understand and demonstrate fitness (all components) knowledge

 

Grading:

Students will be based on a daily six-point rubric:

On time, dressed for class, does all activities with a positive attitude and is respectful of self, others and equipment

5

Most of the qualities of a 6, but may be late or has a bit of a poor attitude

4-3

Most of the qualities of a 6, but has a couple of mishaps, late, or not the correct dress for class, disrespectful or doesn’t do all of the class activities

2

Doesn’t dress for class, but still participates

1

Shows up for class, but does not participate.  This student will be asked to do some sort of work. (sweeping, cleaning, etc.)

Absence – Must be made up with a fitness voucher to earn the daily 6 points
