This course examines contemporary social issues based on individual and group relationships in society.  Emphasis is placed on the cultural conditions in which individuals live and their adjustments to an ever-changing society.

·                    Social institutions

·                    The changing social world


 

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to develop content knowledge and skills in the following areas:

 

·                    Historical, theoretical and methodological components of Sociology

·                    The language of Sociology

·                    The theories and processes of socialization

·                    The role of deviance in society

·                    The institutional organizations of social life

 

Grading:

Students will be grade on the following criteria:

 

·                    Daily Assignments (25%)

·                    Classroom Participation (10%)

·                    Quarter Project (15%)

·                    Tests (50%)
