Major Concepts: 

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of U.S. History from the Civil War to World War II.  Students will be exposed to a variety of methods in which presentations can be made to suit a variety of audiences.

 

Content:

The content shall include but not limited to the following:

 


·                    Civil War and Reconstruction.

·                    Growth of Industrial America.

·                    Settling of the West.

·                    Growth of Urban America.

·                    Political Unrest.

·                    Progressive Movement.

·                    Gilded Age.

·                    Military Growth.

·                    World War I.

·                    Roaring 20’s.

·                    Depression and the New Deal.

·                    Time period between WW I and WW II.

·                    Current Events.


 

Intended Outcomes:

After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:

 

·                    Understand how the growth of the United States has been a continuing process that will continue forever.

·                    Learn from the mistakes that our forefathers have made and hopefully we will not do them again.

 

Grading:

Students will be grade on the following criteria:

 

·                    Classroom assignments (includes worksheets, essays, handouts, bookwork and other)---40%  of final grade.

·                    Chapter Tests and States/Capitals Test---60% of final grade.
