The National Honor Society is a society built for all high school students who show achievements in scholarship, leadership, service and character. All students witht an average GPA of 3.00 or highter are selected to be in such an honorable organisation. In order to be members, the students must meet the requirements for scholarship, service, leadership and character, with out this, they can not be members. If a student is in his or her Junior year fail to continue with the requirements they will be kicked out. In another words, once you are in, you have to work hard to stay in.
Mrs. Gatfield is the cordinatior of NHS in Melba High School. Her and the students do a lot for the school and the community. In past years they have adopted families for Thanks giving and Christmass. They suplied the families with food, clothes, and toys for the kids. They were in charge of R.A.K. (Randon Acts of Kindness) week last year. Every student who participated last year got the chance to do random acts of kindness for another student, and they got the chance to make a new friend. This year they are going to do more things to help the school and the community, so good luck to all of the new members, and have fun!!
